The union was founded in 1988 under the name Corpus, but was renamed to the Umeå Medical Students’ Union in 2004. On the 1st July 2010, the current name “Umeå Medical and Health Sciences Student union” was adopted in connection with the reorganization of the union and the abolition of compulsory membership. You can also participate in the student union elections each year. In those cases, you will be given a unique code that you use together with your Swedish social security number in order to log on and vote. If you have lost your unique code, you can always get it from the student union office by showing your identification.
